Estate Vineyard · Fredericksburg, Texas
Wines of consequence.
Twenty-eight acres of caliche and limestone east of Fredericksburg. Native yeasts. Neutral oak. The patience of a slow season.
From caliche and sun, a quiet revolution in Texas wine.
Maren and Cal Hartline planted their first 600 Tempranillo vines in 2009 on a stretch of caliche the locals said wouldn’t grow grapes.
Fifteen years later, Calicheridge farms twenty-eight acres across nine varietals — Tempranillo, Tannat, Mourvèdre, Cabernet, Roussanne, Viognier, Picpoul, and the Albariño Maren brought home from the Douro.
“Every bottle is estate-grown. We do not buy fruit.”
