01Good to know

Good to know.

Where is Calicheridge Vineyards?
We farm twenty-eight acres of caliche and limestone east of Fredericksburg, Texas, about fifteen minutes from Main Street at 1820 Hartline Bend Road.
Is the wine estate-grown?
Every bottle is estate-grown. We do not buy fruit. The nine varietals we farm, from Tempranillo to Albariño, all come off this one south-facing slope.
How do I taste the wines?
Tastings are seated and guided in our 1908 limestone barn, Wednesday through Sunday by reservation. Walk-ins are welcome on the patio when there is room.
Can I have the wine shipped to me?
Yes. We ship to thirty-eight eligible states, with the simplest access through the Cellar Club. Sign-on-delivery is required and guests must be 21 or older.
02Before you arrive

Before you arrive.

Do I need a reservation?
Reservations are strongly recommended for the tasting room. Walk-ins are welcome on the patio, subject to availability.
Are children welcome?
We love children and dogs. Both are welcome on the patio. The barn is reserved for guests 21 and over.
Can we bring food?
We don't permit outside food in the barn, but our kitchen offers light boards. The patio is happy to host your picnic.
How far is the drive from Main Street?
Fifteen minutes east on US-290, just past the Lyndon B. Johnson historical park. Look for our wooden sign at Hartline Bend Road.
Is the property accessible?
The barn, tasting room, patio, and restrooms are fully accessible. The vineyard walk includes uneven terrain.
Do you host private events?
We host a small number of weddings, rehearsals, and private dinners each year. Visit our contact page to discuss your event.
03About the releases

About the releases.

What does estate-grown mean here?
Every wine on our releases page is grown on our own twenty-eight acres east of Fredericksburg. We do not buy fruit, so each release reflects one vineyard and one season.
What is the difference between current and library releases?
Current releases are the wines we are pouring now. Library releases are back vintages we held in the cellar to age, still available by the bottle while they last.
Why are some wines club only?
Small-lot bottlings like the Founders Reserve are made once a year in tiny quantities, so we reserve them for Cellar Club members rather than the general release.
How are the wines made?
We ferment with native yeasts, age in mostly neutral oak, and hand-harvest at dawn. The aim is wine that tastes of this caliche and this slope, not of the cellar.
04The Cellar Club

The Cellar Club.

Where do you ship?
Thirty-eight states, including TX, CA, NY, FL, CO, IL, MA, OR, and WA. Full list at checkout. Sign-on-delivery is required for all wine shipments.
What if I'm traveling?
Skip a shipment up to two weeks before it goes out, no penalty. We'll roll your selections to the next round.
Can I cancel?
Anytime, after your second shipment. We ask for one full cycle so we can introduce you to a fair range of the cellar.
Is there a join fee?
No. Your first shipment is your first charge.
How often do members receive wine?
Coastal ships twice a year, Cellar three times, Founders four. Shipments land in March, July, and November, and every tier includes complimentary tastings for two on each visit.
05About the vineyard

About the vineyard.

Who founded Calicheridge?
Cal Hartline planted the first vines in 2009 on family land near Stonewall. Maren Hartline joined from the Douro Valley in 2016, and the two have farmed it together since.
Why is it called Calicheridge?
The estate sits on a ridge of caliche, the chalky, calcium-rich crust the Hill Country is known for. Locals said it would not grow grapes. The name keeps that bet in view.
What grapes do you grow?
Nine varietals across three soils: Tempranillo, Tannat, Mourvedre, Cabernet, Roussanne, Viognier, Picpoul, and the Albarino Maren brought home from Portugal.
How big is the estate?
Twenty-eight acres on a south-facing slope at 1,640 feet, dry-farmed with native cover crops. We make about 1,800 cases a year.
